Mazal-Tov on your upcoming Bar/Bat Mitzvah!
Brighton Hebrew Congregation’s Bar and Bat Mitzvah programs have been developed to assist you in transforming your ‘coming of age’ into an unforgettable journey.
A Bar and Bat Mitzvah marks a fundamental shift in life: a transition from a ‘child’ to a responsible, Jewish adult. A child turning Bart/Bat Mitzvah should feel a sense of relevance and reverence as he/she undergoes preparation for the big day. The grand finale – the actual celebration – is a pivotal moment in life’s rhythmic circle and should be
marked with more than just a party: A celebration needs a soul.
Brighton Hebrew Congregation’s Bar and Bat Mitzvah programs show the participants their integral role as a link in our beautiful tradition and rich heritage. Our goal is for them to take pride in themselves and their Jewish identity.
We aim to inspire them with a sense of responsibility toward their family, fellow being, and to G-d. At Brighton Hebrew Congregation, this is all achieved – in a warm, creative, fun and non judgmental way.
The Bat Mitzvah Course
The Brighton Hebrew Congregation Bat Mitzvah Club journeys through the Jewish life Cycle and covers in detail the Jewish approach, traditions and philosophy of all the aspects of a person’s life cycle from birth until death.
The course also includes the origins of Bat Mitzvah celebrations; the special Mitzvah pertaining to Jewish women and various Jewish moral and philosophical issues.
Whilst very informative, our Bat-Mitzvah program is presented in a fun and enjoyable manner. The girls learn through songs, arts & crafts, cuisine and visual technology.
The Bar Mitzvah Course
Thought Bar Mitzvah was all about endless hours memorizing some prayers? Well think again!
Join our program to get the low down on Judiasm, have loads of fun and really ‘become a man’.
The Bar Mitzvah program brings together boys for weeks of exploration, bonding, fun and learning. They will learn the deeper meaning of becoming a Bar Mitzvah, a better understanding of the Torah & Mitzvot, Jewish leaders, Jewish festivals, the Mitzvot connected to Bar Mitzvah - Tefillin, Talit and Aliyah (being called up to the Torah) and Ahavat Yisroel (love and responsibility to others).
These lessons are specifically designed to ignite in participants a love and pride in their Judaism and will help them define who they are as Jews.
Care and Friendship
Our program ensures each participant receives individual attention. With students from all schools and backgrounds, it a great way to make new bonds and lasting friendships.
The Bar and Bat Mitzvah programs culminate in a beautiful end of year ceremony. Family and friends are invited to Brighton Hebrew Congregation to celebrate the milestones of the group. Each boy/girl gives a presentation on a topic of their choice which they have learned about over the course.
